Anti-Flag Cancel Opening Band, Fireworks

Fireworks of Metro Detroit were set to tour with Pittsburgh's Anti-Flag but were forced to back out at the last minute due to conflicting tour dates. The tour with Anti-Flag which was set to kick off for Fireworks on Jan. 12, would have ran through Feb. 16. Instead, Fireworks, who are signed to Triple Crown Records, will begin touring with New Found Glory, Saves The Day and Hellogoodbye beginning Jan. 29. The tour is expected to make a stop in Royal Oak at the Royal Oak Music Theatre on Mar. 4

Owens Recording with Feldman

According to Alternative Press magazine and the Twitter account of Craig Owens: A series of tweets were released by Craig Owens, between the dates of Dec. 5 and Dec. 8, pertaining to Owens recording, possibly a solo album (or maybe with another artist, Pete Wentz maybe?) with producer John Feldman in California. Feldman is responsible for producing albums for bands such as The Used and Anythony Green.
Owens, who has been mentioned in some recent posts, was kicked out of his own band, Chiodos and recently called it quits with his side project, Cinematic Sunrise, is now pursuing a solo career, according to his website and tweets.

After posting last week on We Came As Romans, Metro Times (free newspaper printed in Detroit, Michigan) has reported that WCAR's new album, "To Plant A Seed," has made it into the top 200 spot on the Billboard Charts. So why do I feel that this is newsworthy and important to know, well for the simple fact that, WCAR are from the lovely state of Michigan, residing in Troy as a matter of fact. WCAR which are signed to Equal Vision Records (the same label as Chiodos, Craig Owens, and Cinematic Sunrise,) have only recorded one other album, their EP, "Dreams," before signing with Equal Vision.

Trouble In Owens Waters

It seems that Craig Owens troubles went from minor to deep all in a matter of weeks. Owens, once lead singer of the Michigan based band, Chiodos, was kicked out by all the members of the band recently, which shocked thousands of fans and especially Michigan fans long before Chiodos Bros. became Chiodos. Now that Chiodos will continue on without Owens (the band has actually begun recording a new album, minus the lead vocals of Owens), things have taken another turn for the worse. Owens, who also performs in the band Cinematic Sunrise, has announced that CinSun will also be calling it quits. The band will be playing their last 3 shows: 12/3 Anaheim at Chain Reaction, 12/4 Hollywood atTroubador, and 12/6 - San Diego at Soma. One would have thought the band would have played their last few shows in Michigan (where the band is originally from), but Owens says, according to his Twitter, that he still plans to put out his solo EP and continue on in the music business.

The Swellers take a break from Paramore Tour to visit town where it all began

You hear it all the time. "Oh I'm friends with the cousin of a friends aunt who plays drums for so and so" or "Yeah, I use to hang out with the lead singer of this band." Unfortunately for those people, no one ever believes them. Lucky for me, I can claim I really do know someone in a mainstream band. Nick Diener and I sat next to each other in a college psychology class and struck up a friendship. Through hundreds of shows, numerous tours on Warped Tour and even touring with A Wilhelm Scream, we've still manage to keep in contact. Now, him and his band, The Swellers (who are from the lovely city of Fenton, Michigan) have been signed to Fueled By Ramen, the label who have produced big sensations, such as Jimmy Eat World and Fall Out Boy. Currently finishing up a short tour with Paramore, Nick and his band took a day off to "officially" release their newest CD, "Ups and Downsizing," with friends and family in the state of Michigan at the campus of The University of Michigan-Flint. Playing with other local bands, Shark Week and Island View Drive, the show had a large turn out and crowd participation.

We Came As Romans Release "To Plant A Seed"

Troy, Michigan based band, We Came As Romans, recently released their full-length album, "To Plant A Seed" on Equal Vision Records. WCAR hasn't exactly hit the mainstream, quite as hard as local bands Chiodos and The Swellers, but have quite the fan base here in Michigan. WCAR was signed to Equal Vision Records shortly after being named "the top unsigned band in AP's (Alternative Press Magazine) Hometown Heroes special" which was decided by fans. (altpress.com)
